Snowing

Yes, the Dread Pirate Blizzard has sailed into the bay...

Or something.  About half an inch of snow on the ground when I went for my morning newspaper walk, predictions of 8" to 18" accumulation before all is said and done.  (And, as usual, a lot more will be said than done...)

That's really TV weather-twit language for "Gonna snow a bunch.  Be careful out there."

Me, I have a mug of coffee in hand and nowhere I need to go.  Wife handled the nature center bookkeeping stuff on Friday, that being the end of the month, and she has nowhere she needs to go.  I think every school and public function in the state is canceled, judging by the streamer line on the bottom of the TV screen.

Speaking of Weather-Twits

Are we the only TV viewers grumpy at the graphics used by weather-twits?  One example used locally, a so-called perspective view of weather radar that distorts the map so that you can't figure out where those green/orange/blue blobs are actually dumping their burdens?  Likewise panning shots of said perspective  from Florida up to Maine that make motion-sensitive Wife queasy?

Interim snow-removal report

About 8" of snow removed from various surfaces.  We have access to cars, for the immediate future.  Like, if Wife needs to haul me off to the hospital cardiac unit...

(I checked with her -- she says "9-1-1.  It's their problem.")

Based on internet weather radar, we're not halfway there yet.

LIVERMORE FALLS — When serving in Iraq, Tyler Curtis survived bullets and bombs. But once he got home, he couldn't escape the emotional wounds he suffered.

Curtis, 25, took his own life on Thanksgiving morning, three months after returning to Maine following his 2006 discharge from the Army.
