Assorted patches of squirrel fur on the pavement, one thoroughly flattened crow out by the GE turbine plant with no visible clue as to what was worth risking its tailfeathers.

Also, bopping down the Essex Street hill from the water tanks, assorted vehicles that aspired to roadkill status.  Here I am biking along at about 28 mph in a 25 mph zone, and three separate and distinct idiots felt the need to pass me in the face of oncoming traffic.  Joke is, I passed them at the next traffic light, where they waited to make left turns while I went straight...

Kornbluth was an optimist.

Anyway, chilly and windy this morning (still only about 50 F when I got home) so I settled for a local ride rather than touring the countryside.  Went across to the airport and back, and even the steepish climb out of our downtown valley didn't make me want to take off my fuzzy Polartec jacket.  Local fall color rating -- "Moderate."

Bright and sunny and delightful, if you are inside looking out.
