I know I've mentioned it before, but walking along State Street and looking south to sun glowing off the linear fog over the river makes a good wake-up.  Pre-coffee, even.  The valley puts the top of the fog bank right about at eye level.

The Boston Red Sox, diving into their trademark "graveyard spin."  (No, not patented.  Patents are for a limited time, while the Red Sox are forever...)(No real roadkill was harmed in any way in the making of this post.)

Not-roadkill:  great blue heron working the frog pond at the cemetery, both coming and going.  I've also seen a cormorant there, a couple of times.  Maybe it's deeper than I think?

Beautiful morning, blue sky and little wind and more red in the trees.  Landmark achieved -- 1012 miles in 75:10 ride time, roughly 13.5 mph average.  We'll see how much more I get in before the glaciers rumble by.

15.30 miles, 1:05:15
