Fog and temperature in the mid 30s F this morning.  Fog burned off quickly, but the world remains cool.

No frost here yet.  Some of the goldfinches are switching over to winter plumage, seen amid the swarms at the thistle feeder.  Business has picked up lately, with all 8 perches filled and complaints from the nearby trees.

According to a "White House fact sheet" (cited in Forbes magazine and Kudlow & Company, but I don't have a copy...), the gummint has spent $114 billion plus tax relief of another $13 billion on Gulf area hurricane relief.

That doesn't seem to include insurance payoffs or private charities such as the Red Cross.

What do we have to show for it?
