Sunday roadkill report
Aug. 19th, 2007 01:15 pmOne splattered skunk up by the auto salvage yard, one long-haired black kitty-cat about a quarter mile on, looked like it was sleeping except the eyes were open.
Temperature reached 60 F so I declared a ride. Headed upriver, but by the time I reached the next bridge, the wind had picked up to the point where I wimped out on flogging into that head-on for fifteen miles. So I crossed the river (walking the bike, Bridge O' Doom again) and headed back down.
You know, the way that temporary bridge shakes under traffic, I'm not sure it is safe for heavy trucks. You don't notice it, riding, but when you walk...

Frost "advisory"
Aug. 19th, 2007 06:28 pmYep, that time of the year again. The NWS thinks the borderlands may see scattered frost tonight. Not us, locally. Some of the red maples are showing their first tinges of color out in the swamps. This, while hurricanes rampage down south...
Need a good hard frost to clear out the bugs and tourists, though.
