Cool Canadian air arrived with a flourish yesterday (flourish = thunder, lightning, and driving rain).  Morning temperature about 50 F, as opposed to 70, and dew-point in the 40s rather than the 60s.  I make a lot of teasing comments about our best neighbors to the north (and east, and west, and some to the south...) but I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for the air.

I'd like to thank you, but like an airline pilot, I won't...

Bike ride soon.

Whilst walking for the morning newspaper, I encountered a trail of blood splots on the sidewalk.  Serious blood splots, inch or so across, closely spaced, meandering for maybe 50-60 feet before ending (or seeming to end) at house steps.  No noticeable connection with the street -- seemed to start in a lawn.

If this had been a cat or dog, I would have expected to find a corpse at the end.  Saw two of our accustomed cats alive in the immediate area.  No mention of a knife-fight in the morning paper...

Not even a squashed squirrel.

Waited a bit for the day to warm up -- after the last bike ride in the 80s F, low 50s seemed a bit extreme.  Also, a breeze to make things even more so.  Add wild roses to the roadside flora, plus some yellow stuff and some white stuff -- precise botanical terms, those.

This brings me to 431 miles for the season, rather behind where I'd like to be.  That's due to internal and external extenuating circumstances, like weather and this damned allergy crud.

15.27 miles*, 1:08:21

*On the standard route, by which the discerning observer will guess that I pumped up the tires.  Harder tires = fewer revolutions of the wheel in a set distance = lower odometer reading...
