Rain last night, fog this morning, forecast showers and rain today, temps in the 40s F. Probably clearing tomorrow. Flood watches, with the ground frozen and snow melt adding to the rain. Ice jams possible on rivers and streams.

Winter storm predicted for Friday night into Saturday...

As another Sign and/or Portent, we have ducks. Not that we don't have them straight through the winter, hanging out in open sections of the river and feeding in the (warm) lagoons at the sewage treatment plant, but there's this ice rink at the park I've mentioned before. It's just a bit of flat land with a berm on the downhill side and a drain the city can open in the summer to prevent the area from turning into a swamp. Anyway, the ice has thawed enough to expose soil underwater at the edges.

Yesterday evening we had two ducks dabbling around in there, a pair of mallards.
