Chilly morning

Temperature in the mid-30s F when I took my morning newspaper walk. Warmed up to about 50 F now, but not bicycle weather by my definition. We did get light frost, with more forecast for tonight. This is late for a first frost in the area.

Got to start moving my ass on POWERS -- still bogged down in the opening chapter. "Beginnings are such delicate times." Decided I need more conflict, have to make Old Guy refuse to work for the demon. Which, as you might guess, qualifies as risky business. I remind you, Dear Reader, that you don't want to audition as a protagonist for a fantasy novel.

Poked my nose in at the Pigeon Loft again today. No actual progress, but I _did_ find some new lumber stacked. Then stopped at the contractor's office, found him in (will wonders never cease?) and waited out the phone call that had him otherwise employed. Yes, work will start Monday. Yes, they have the unit mix sorted out.* Yes, this all means that the building won't collapse when the first snow drifts down gently on the roof. He admitted that he, also, would not have slept well if the project went into the winter without at least temporary shoring in place...

*Turns out that a partner of Client had pissed off Code Enforcement on a separate issue. What goes around, comes around. You'd think a lawyer would know better.

Small town politics, gotta love it.
