Once again, an ominous absence of squashed fauna on the highways and byways. Probably linked to Osama, just like all the other ominous happenings in the world.

Temperature about 38F when I got up this morning, with fog and heavy dew. Since I want the world to dry out a bit before I dive headfirst into this fall's painting project (sunporch), I took my bike out as soon as the ambient nudged 60. Breezy, but not as bad as Sunday's ride. No real items of note, except the slow march of autumnal color into the leaves.

Got an opening scene in my head for a sequel to DRAGON'S TEETH, probably called DRAGON'S BLOOD or DRAGON'S BONES or maybe some zoological improbability like DRAGON'S HAIR. I wonder if I'd have any chance of selling it?

(Ancient SF reference)

Done with the touch-up scraping* and priming on the front of the sunporch. This represents a much simpler job than the front porch, with all those damned spindles and working from a high ladder.

Now we shall hope for a projected stretch of dry days for painting, and move on to the side and the (small) rear section.

*Scraped the worst of it last year, in conjunction with the front porch project.
