Obligatory thought on the day

I think events _since_ the 9/11 attacks constitute a worse tragedy.

We're from the government, trust us...

Got another letter from the VA this morning, telling me in the most sincere terms that they have recovered their laptop computer and that the FBI assures them that the personal personnel data contained therein was not accessed. However, they will be watching for patterns of abuse and that I should do likewise.

Why does this not reassure me?
