Sunday roadkill report
Aug. 13th, 2006 02:13 pmCorpses counted: raccoon, porcupine, skunk. The first two were nearly mummies, but I hadn't been over that route since they appeared. The skunk (yearling) looked fresh, blood still wet. No smell, though.
Started the bike ride later than usual, waiting for the world to warm up a bit -- morning lows in the 40s, so I waited for that August sun to do his thing. Pedaled upriver, across the Bridge of Ill Repute without getting a flat this time, then down the other side and back into the hills, including a stop at Wife's nature center to watch hummingbirds. More breeze than a bicyclist would prefer, and that route includes long open stretches into the maw of the north wind.
No words committed. Maybe later. I think the demon wants another beer.
