Well, another of our neighbors is at the renovation game -- he tore out the lath and plaster in the daughter's bedroom upstairs, and now has a crew ripping off shingles in preparation for a re-roof job. As Wife observed this morning, _she_ would have brought in the laundry first...

Down the street a bit, there's been a continuing interior job that has spilled over to replacing the siding. Neighbor on _other_ side got a new roof last year.

If this nonsense continues to spread through the neighborhood, we'll have the rattiest house on the block. I hear that's good for our resale value -- you can get a decent return on buying the worst property, fixing up, and selling high.

Wasted oxygen

Wife and I went for a walk out at the city forest this afternoon, place of my winter skiing and the same bog that features in my bike accounts. A bunch of nice people have laid out a boardwalk out into the bog, spaghnum and tamaracks and pitcher plants and all. Handicap accessible, benches for us elderly sorts that need a break, interpretive signs, the whole nine yards.

So a fucking vandal (yes, I know that's an ethnic slur on an inoffensive Germanic tribe) has come along and kicked apart some of the seats and splintered off the guard rim that keeps a wheelchair from dropping off the edge. The damn walk has only been open for a week so far this year....

Nuke 'em all, let God sort 'em out. Or maybe, since we found fresh bear scat in the middle of another trail, some of the more clawsome critters will provide a solution suitable to the offense.
