Wednesday roadkill report
Oct. 12th, 2005 02:26 pmOne squashed muskrat in the road through the bog.
Warmed up to the upper 50s today, sunny, no rain, so I managed to snatch another bike ride from the jaws of winter. Still too much wind, though. A lot of water in the streams (gee, wonder where that came from) but the bog seems to have soaked it up and kept well below the road level.
May try for another ride tomorrow -- Friday and onward look wet again.
Fall color looks like it plans on a minimal display this year -- the rain and relatively warm weather are messing up the enzymes or whatever, and the wind takes leaves off before they even change fully. Our side yard maple has dumped blotchy green and yellow leaves all over the ground.
Sparrows and juncos seem to be migrating through.
