Had a run of thunderstorms and pounding rain come through last night, nothing like the reports from India (three FEET of rain in 24 hours???) but enough to dampen our world and wash the dust off the petunias. Cooler and dryer forecast for the next several days, which we shall enjoy. The morning ride sparkled, dew-pearl'd or something like, with no noticeable roadkill to report.

Haven't started in on GHOST POINT rewrites yet -- have to allow a little time for the comments to compost in my head. Probably tomorrow. I think I'd better cut eight or ten pages total from that first chapter and Grendel's second appearance. That will, of course, hurt, as each word represents perfection and is vital to the gem-like whole.

Reset the brain to architecture this afternoon, monthly meeting on one of my archaeological renovation projects. What expensive oddities have they found _this_ time?

Brief email from Younger Son this morning, the Homeland Security folks let him back into the country and he is recuperating from his trip to Canukistan -- Vancouver, to be specific for you nice neighbors to the north. This was his annual respite from the grad school grind, a get-together of the collaborative team of Broken Saints. The name may mean something to the younger set, but escapes me....
