Sunshine? Again?
May. 11th, 2005 10:00 amI don't know whether we can stand the strain.
White violets (not a contradiction) blooming in the lawn. I do _not_ keep a perfect WASP suburban lawn. Whatever wants to grow gets a chance. If it can live with a maximum 2" height, it stays, equal-opportunity employer. Anyway, we have white violets scattered through the grass and weeds, and I try to avoid mowing them for the few weeks of blossom in the spring. Not showy, but attractive in the micro-scale.
Probably will go out to the bog this afternoon with Wife -- get a stroll along the floating boardwalk before the bugs turn the place into hell, see the skunk cabbage and pitcher plants waking up and check the tidal gauge (water level rises and falls through the year -- should be about at high tide now, with water lapping at the edge of the road out there...)
Finished draft of chapter XXXI this morning, next to last. Maybe. We'll see if one more round ties up enough loose ends for creative satisfaction. Both Editor and Agent have complained that my endings can get a bit abrupt, leaving a reader with the wish for a few more words. Hey, that means you'll buy the next book, yes?
