Of wind and snow and sun
Mar. 4th, 2005 03:21 pmSkiing again this afternoon, when I should be either writing or architecting. I don't know if I have yet expounded on the 39 words for snow, but conditions vary a lot on the trail. Today proved to be nearly ideal -- temperatures in the 20s F and windy, but enough shelter under the trees that I could ski in just a shirt and pants. Snow packed but not frozen, trail shaded enough that only a few sections had crusted from the sun. I only met three people on the trail at the city forest, two together and the third with dog (boo, hiss, but no evidence that _that_ dog was the perpetrator of filth...)
Anyway, the kick and glide verged on sublime. Research, remember, for GHOST POINT. The Shrew has seen the error of her ways and will now ski in the right direction, so Eagle will lend his spirit powers to smooth her way.
4 miles, 50 minutes. Not bad for an old fart on worn old skis.
