Somebody stole our river again. Beautiful morning, just enough fog to add "atmosphere" to the scene. Like some of those Maxfield Parrish sunsets we've been getting, if you painted it, critics would say the scene was fake.

Head out to the Household Toxic Waste Disposal day in an hour, dump a TV set, two monitors, and an ancient Heath/Zenith computer. One day a year, you can get rid of stuff like that. This will still leave us with four computers, five monitors, and two TV sets for two people. But the spare monitor actually belongs to Younger Son.

Line of cars and trucks about a half mile long for that toxic waste disposal. Inching along. Wonder what all those vehicles idling or moving at 1 MPH did for the atmosphere. At least I was waiting behind a Prius for most of it -- hybrid car, probably moving on battery power.

Might be an effective use of tax dollars to hold that _twice_ a year? But hell, we have a tax cap proposal coming up on the November ballot. If that passes, we'll never have regular garbage collection, much less the toxics. Dump 'em in the river.

Mowed the lawn, maybe the last time for the year. Weather guys are talking about a hard freeze mid-week. Bye-bye bicycling?

Fall color (colour) near peak in the north country and mountains, just starting along the Down-east coast. What you see depends on where you go. Duh.
