Space aliens

They certainly aren't _human_. Tour de France competitors, that is. As you may have noticed (well, you _should_ have), I average about 15 mph on my shorter bike rides and more like 13 mph on the longer ones. Lance Armstrong's entire _team_ averaged over 30 mph on the team time trial. I'm lucky to go that fast on a downhill with a tailwind.

Slug weather

Damp and cool lately, showers and thundershowers, perfect weather to bring out the Super Slugs. (Technically, leopard slugs or Limax maximus.) Saw two of them on our evening walk, each about six inches long, headed across the sidewalk at a, shall we say, snail's pace, nose to tail. Have to tell the morality police about this, ASAP. Sex on the sidewalks of the Big City.
