A sense of impending doom

Looked up from the local fishwrapper and my morning coffee to see a ... form ... ambling along the concrete ledge of our neighbor's foundation. Now, this is a common cat highway, so movement is expected.

However, this was a skunk. Not a _large_ skunk, but definitely a skunk. It disappeared under our neighbor's front porch. Shortly thereafter, the female cat from across the street _also_ disappeared under the same porch. Don't know if this is something kinky, ala Pepe le Pew, or what.

But we have been sniffing the ambient air with a certain level of dread.
