Well, the weather prophets proved out. Why do they only get it right when you'd rather they didn't? Anyway, the snow turned to sleet and then to freezing rain. Not much ice on the trees, as the air warmed up and the specific heat of wood is rather low. But the roads, the sidewalks, the cars....
Scraped off Wife's car for her trek to work, decided partway through the process that the most energy-efficient mode would be to start the damned thing and warm that layer of glaze from the inside. (My energy-efficiency rating, not the car's. Let's keep our priorities here.) I hope my car will thaw in the course of the day without outside intervention.
Time to switch into winter survival mode in the Great North Woods.

Date: 2005-12-17 09:41 am (UTC)here in Unity/WTVL the day dawned bright with the trees iced-and-snowed quite nicely; around an eighth of an inch of ice on the Sube but (due to great driveway orientation) the driver side was basking in sun light and easy enough to peel so I could warm the car the rest of the way for delivering Rolanni to Bean right after breakfast...
Some of the trees in shade are still coated with ice, but nothing dangerous, I think.
