Two pounds, fourteen ounces

That's the weight of today's newspaper. Of which total, eight ounces constituted the actual newspaper (itself at least half ads) and the rest advertising inserts. Happy holidays!

(After I hauled my prey back from the morning hunt, I had to weigh it. Granted, I wasn't using state-certified scales, but it's close enough for government work.)

Also, we have fresh loam spread out front to cover the ravages of the sewer project. The frost crystal forest poking out of it has reached at least 3" in length, a new form of brown grass. I wonder if I'll have to mow the damned things....

At times like these I weed the newspaper and all the ads go straight into the trash... yes I know I'm not the average consumer, but the reason I bought the damn paper was to read the news and not to pore, rapt, over the specials on washing machines, the new GameCube, or the latest Victoria's Secret push-up bra. Sometimes I REALLY resent advertising.
