...against selling beverages in glass containers. Particularly alcoholic beverages. I get damned tired of dodging smashed beer bottles when out for my ride. No flat tires _yet_, but that's not for the boozers' lack of trying.

Hazy, hot, and humid today (hot for Maine, mid 80s) so I'm breaking the weekend ride into two parts, separated by re-hydration. No wildlife out there, unless you count the bald eagle cruising down the river while I cruised down the river road beside him. Sharp-shinned hawk perched in the neighbor's tree yesterday evening and looking raptorial, no wonder the goldfinches didn't stop by the thistle feeder for their evening snack.

The best way to cut down on glass shards by the roadside is a mandatory return deposit on all glass containers. When returning a dozen beer bottles will get you a FREE BEER, they don't pile up quite as heavily.

Maine has a deposit on beverage bottles and cans. Doesn't seem to stop the litter louts. At least it usually means that the unbroken containers get picked up by someone else.
