Idle walking thoughts

I keep encountering these new-fangled horseless carriages that shut off their engines while waiting for traffic lights and such -- saves gas. And I think about all the older vehicles I've known that are a stone bitch to start, and I wonder what happens with these new toys when they have a decade or so under their wheels and less than stellar maintenance . . .

Don't know about the 'really old' bit but my current car uses half a tank of gas for a journey that needed a full tank in my old one, and due to the drop in pollution I'm paying £30/year road tax instead of £180.

I'm willing to take that risk.
