We had a snowmobile fatality up here last weekend, too -- some guy had a crash near Stratford, six miles from the trail head. EMS had to use snowmobiles and an ATV to get to the actual scene. They actually got him to the hospital warm, pink, and breathing, but he died anyway from "extensive injuries", as the news report said.
This happened, of course, because Himself was out of town. Weekends when he's in town and available to answer calls, a wave of good health and good sense sweeps over the north country. (On the other hand, the EMT who was on duty last weekend has the opposite rep: She ends up with all the bad calls.)
