Cooler and drier air did, indeed, move in overnight. We missed the bulk of the rain and thundershowers -- weather radar showed solid lines to the north and south of us, but our net result seemed minimal. As noted before, this is a good news/bad news joke, because now I lack that excuse for avoiding yard work and paint scraping.

BN.com (Barnes and Noble online) now lists DRAGON'S EYE available for preorder. No idea why they lagged months behind Amazon in that regard. Elsewhere on the book front, I swung by the local Borders and Daltons for other reasons and, of course, checked for SUMMER COUNTRY and WINTER OAK. Both had the former, neither had the latter. Fie and boo!

Still no signs of life at the yellowjacket nest.

Younger Son reported spotting the book in the wild in Durham. I don't know the name of the store, and they might have sold their only copy and not replaced it. Or just returned it to the distributer when it didn't move off the shelf.

Too many people are recycling the book in the used listings at amazon.com -- they show 70 or 80 copies available.

Of course, copies _are_ available by mail from the author....

Now there's a thought. Please - e-mail me the address to send the check to - shipping and handling included of course.

that's mca@cisunix.unh.edu

A going back to school present for myself, 'cause I deserve it.
