We hates them forever.

Wife is trying to set up airline reservations for a September trip -- family-obligation type stuff, no way it qualifies as a vacation -- and is facing the usual run-around on fares and connections and planes scheduled to leave your friendly neighborhood international airport at 5:20 AM (which would require arrival at the airport somewhere around 4:00 AM to clear security.) At least it looks like we will not renew our loving acquaintance with Detroit Metro this time around. Probably flying by way of Philadelphia, which is not the worst airport in the world. (There is no "best.")

We're actually hoping USAir will shut down due to lack of funds before we fly -- that's how much we enjoy the actual physical act.

Took it easy on the morning bike ride, avoid heatstroke, remember to stop and smell the skunks, that type of thing. The deceased mustelid up by the golf course has pretty much dried up to a mummy, no apparent smell.

You don't have the schedule-flexibility to take a train? I've done that, the last few trips, and had a wonderful time thereby.

Maine does not provide the luxury of train travel, unless we drive nearly to Portland and then change stations cross-town in Boston. Also, I don't know if Amtrak does Cleveland. Never checked.

Flying is, indeed, suck-o-riffic.

Pity, that. I can remember when it was fun.

It's my opinion that all airline execs should be required by law to spend a certain number of days each month flying. In the center seats. And no exit aisles for them.

A. (who is about to go off to Worldcon in Europe, who asked for FORWARD SEATS six months ago, and who has been assigned seats five rows from the back of the plane. bleah.)
