Sunday roadkill report

Multiple gray squirrels failed to complete their crossings, one red squirrel, skunk once I got back into town, and what I think was a long-tailed weasel. Roadkill ID can get difficult.

Not-roadkill, a flock of seven wild turkeys at about three miles into my ride. Looked to be all adults, but could be near-grown instead. Also, a couple of interesting metal birds out at the airport. And the flags at the base were still at full staff -- no decree from Caesar Augustus yet?

Got out on the bike, did not die.

According to Himself, the rule for flags at half staff, at least while he was serving, was "at least three full days including one weekend." So if they don't take the flag to half staff until tomorrow, they could plausibly keep it that way all week and next weekend.

Or they could just be slacking off.

One reason I give the roadkill report is that a lot of people don't realize how much havoc vehicles cause on rural roads. Or in town, for that matter.

When I think of the insect body count from my family's travels across the country...I'm left more and more unhappy.
