The Greppos at the border even let me back into the country. Shows you how much _they_ care about National Security.

(As an aside, I spent 46 minutes clearing customs and immigration at Bar Harbor. 45 of that was waiting in line, the final minute chatting with the man with the gun on his hip. He seemed to think I looked like Steve King. I told him the glasses weren't nearly thick enough. Guess the answer was neither too meek nor too aggressive.)

Don't look for coherent responses to anything tonight -- I smuggled my rum ration past the guards. But Barnstead seemed to think my performance met expectations.

Read that however you wish.

Did you get to meet Pernicious?

No, the cat was sulking off in mosquito-bit harbor (harbour) and showed nary a whisker. I would have charmed him if he had dared the chance -- John can verify an amusing effect I have on total-stranger felines.

In case you're having as much trouble catching up with LJ as I am, Jim, you can find a long post about my adventures in Maine here. It was great meeting you!

Thanks for the pointer. No, I wasn't having trouble catching up -- I didn't even try. If anything world-shattering happened in the LJ community, I guess I will just be as clueless as usual.

Thanks for visiting :) You had a lot of really great insight. I was the one wearing all the blinding neon green...

How was life in a ficticious place?

How else could it be? Ficticious. As noted elsewhere, Barnstead didn't even produce a stunt-cat to impersonate Pernicious.

I _do_ hope you and the rest of the cabal will contribute some muscle power (and car or truck power) to complete John's move. Camping out between apartments can wear thin after a while. At least we got his microwave added to the availabe options for his meals...
