We seemed destined to rainy Sundays. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be....

Went across town on the bike ride today, attempting to beat the rain that's due this evening, just an hour rather than the two I'd considered because "it" isn't really all that warm out there -- temps in the 50s F. No wildlife to note, although a bit of wilddead here and there. One roadkill woodchuck was almost blond. Or blonde, depending.

(Therein lies a tale -- copyedit on DRAGON'S EYE substituted blond for blonde throughout, even though the yellow-haired characters were both of the female persuasion.)

Did my 500+ words on GHOST POINT this morning, prior to listening to the commentators and politicians bitch about the base closings on noon news. If you believe the news, Maine ranks #2 in the nation in total jobs lost. When you consider the small population and general poverty around here, 7000 jobs make a pretty sincere dent. Guess we really should have voted Republican.

Sorry, dude. We actually avoided the Saturday rain today - well, so far. The sun is actually shining although it was dark and dismal earlier. I actually got a chance to go out and transplant a few irises from out back to the front of my house where people will be able to see them. I hope they take.

On the other hand, I still haven't found a bicycle so I can ride around and enjoy the tepid-to-cool temperatures.

As for the base closures, well down here we lost Pease AFB several years ago and now we're losing Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. I think a sub repair-and-refit facility will be harder to convert to civilian usage than an air base was.
