Political surveillance

People who remember the 1950s and 1960s won't be surprised that the FBI spies on politics. Back then, it was the Civil Rights movement and antiwar, and the "right"applauded. Now the shoe is on their foot, and they find it pinches.

Date: 2018-02-13 04:48 pm (UTC)I'll gladly agree, with no reservations, that there is sudden awareness of how vital the 4th amendment is, and that there can also be *reasonable* fears of bias.
(I also might be over-remembering, e.g., Martin Luther King Jr. being spied on and threatened, versus various communist infiltrations, which are reasonable to watch and be concerned about. I'm sure not *all* of the CR/AW spying was to protect The Powers That Be.)
