Speaking of Banes

The ice-cream truck has emerged from hibernation, cruising our quaint narrow streets with canned renditions of Joplin's "The Entertainer" on an electronic sound system that you can hear for a measured mile. We'll get _them_ with the Skunk Launcher (TM) some day, and their little dog, too.

Of course, "Ride of the Valkyrie" would also work well, if played quite loudly on a hi-fidelity system. Canned, I'm sure either one or the other would still sound like "The Entertainer" in the end.

Date: 2005-04-10 06:58 pm (UTC)But really, the root problem with _anything_ on those damned trucks is their signature of playing just a few bars endlessly repeated. If law required them to play, for example, the Verdi _Requiem_ all the way through, or the whole _Ring des Niblungen_ cycle . . .
