Apparently there was an award show last night that has some people upset. Maybe if you ignore it, it will become irrelevant?

That certainly works with election results and legislation and diplomacy and....

Unlike elections, shows depend on an audience. If enough people ignore a show, it dies.

And if enough people enjoy it and recruit their friends, in an effort that's not excoriated the way political discourse/argument is, then its fandom grows and it may persist, and solidifies the worldview it espouses and embodies. I can't think how many times people have made "but Heinlein said that..." an element of a political argument-- and thought it was a knockdown argument, too.
