Boy howdy, yes. Rich dense world building? You betcha. Something so immersive that I feel like I'm drowning? Not so much.

Yes... that's one of the differences between a delightful whiff of mystery/strangeness, and a legitimate fear of "then the little boy woke up from his dream".
