Andre Norton, 1912-2005

From a SFWA private discussion group:

***

Andre Norton passed away last night at 2:23 A.M.

She died peacefully, in her sleep, attended by her caregiver, Sue
Stewart.

There will be an official announcement and obituary on Andre's website
soon, if it hasn't already been posted.

***

I read her stuff for years before I found out she wasn't a man....

RIP

Now I'm crying. May she rest in peace.

Thanks for letting us know.

I've really enjoyed exploring her worlds.

May she rest in peace -- she was a wonderful part of my life as a young boy -- I remember in particular her books about time exploration, and the Aztec Spaceman. Like you, I never realized then that she was a woman.

Apache, I think now -- but I'll have to look up the title again, I suppose -- it has been many, many years...

"The Defiant Agents"

Yes, Travis Fox was Apache.

Hosteen Storm, from "The Beast Master" was Navajo.

There's also "The Sioux Spaceman" with Kade Whitehawk.

Expected, but still sad. She was one of the icons of an era, very like Asimov.
