The wisdom of the elders

My father told me, long ago* in a discussion of Presbyterian theology and faith versus works:

"One of the few ways we can make the world a better place is by behaving decently toward strangers."

Applies to a lot of things, including the internet.

*Has to have been long and long, as he died over thirty years ago.

At the time, Dad was involved in . . . discussions . . . with the rest of the elders and deacons about seating "Negroes" in church. He may not have been feeling the proper level of Christian charity toward some of our neighbors.
