Of course, the clear sky necessary for sunrise also bestows black ice on the sunrise roads and sidewalks. Win some, lose some.
When I did my pre-locking-up turn around the yard last night, I scared something out of one of the spruce trees by the back fence. Avian, shadow against Neighbor's Xmas lights looked about crow size or a little smaller, but it flapped faster than a crow. Wings clattered, so it wasn't an owl.
Thing is, four hours after sunset, most birds wouldn't be awake enough to scare out of a roost.
