Gray morning

Again.  Not raining.

Maybe bike ride later.

Meanwhile, we are Viewing With Alarm the latest incarnation of L.A. Fire Season, with both Younger Son and Significant Other living in that area.  Granted that L.A. is a largish place and thus most of the conflagrations are far, far from their respective abodes and madding crowds, none the less, the whole place is flammable . . .

Daughter got evacuated last night.

Everything here is covered with ash.

Urk. Well, both YS and SO are living in rentals, so if they get burned out, they just have to grab some clothes and computers. OTOH, neither one has a car . . .

Same with my daughter. But she busted out of there so fast she left her computer behind--then they closed the freeways.

I don't think her house is threatened. She lives a mile down in the old flatlands. The threatened homes seem to be the new McMansions all along the foothills.

Well, I forgot to mention the kitties. Evacuation without a car and _with_ two cats may get awkward.

sometimes the daughter takes the dog most devoted to her up for a weekend, but her landlady (very nice) doesn't want animals around, so we didn't have that worry. We were glad to find out that the local authorities had a massive livestock rescue effort going, as that is horse country. I hope that meant dogs and cats encountered by the fire fighters as well.

Well, the cats are in Claremont, which does not seem to be near any fires. At the moment . . .

Claremont is pretty flat. The smog there is probably even more lethal than usual, due to the San Bernardino fires, but there shouldn't be any fire threat.
