Hatches battened

We have gray skies and a breeze.  Rain seems to have reached southern Maine, judging by weather radar, while the center of Hanna looks to be still in North Carolina.  That's large, if not very strong.

And the Nature Center has a family canoe outing scheduled on the pond.  It figures.

Postscript:  The hurricane tracker now shows Ike rumbling through the Florida Keys and on into the Gulf, tracking towards Louisiana.  You folks down there just keep swimming, okay?

I think it's moved much more rapidly than expected. We (in DC) have had solid rain since at least 6 a.m. The original tracking had the storm on our latitude at 8:00 tonight, but they're listing us as out of the rainbelt by around 4:00 now...

(We've had no wind, some heavy rain and oppressively muggy air, but nothing that screams "dangerous tropical storm!" I hope you have a similar positive experience.)
