Uh, not really...

The gummint claims now, years after the event, that the whacko acted alone in spreading anthrax to the winds.  Then who gave the guy anthrax to play with, in the first place?

Personally, I blame his 5 x great grandmother -- if she hadn't had children, none of this would have happened...

Well, there's the alternative approach of Historical Inevitability that says if he hadn't done it, someone else would have felt those particular pressures and committed a similar act...

There's a reason old Dick Nixon suspended biological warfare research. Even he understood that the genie couldn't be put back into the bottle.

You know you have a problem when you start praising Tricky Dicky's wisdom and foresight.

(I imagine the Conspiracy Coalition will have fun with this one for decades. "He acted alone. He's dead. He worked for a government agency. All we need is a black helicopter or two...")

As Jay Leno pointed out... why exactly did a guy with a history of mental difficulties and various anecdotes of acting-out in minorly criminal ways wind up with the 1) clearance, and 2) job working with such deadly things at all?

When Jay Leno is smarter than the people running such programs, you know we have a real problem.

One of those "naked emperor" moments.
