For all my comments about bare ground and open ponds, one of the weekend's snowmobile accidents has turned fatal.  Organ-donor type of thing, not wearing a helmet...

The last days of the snowmobile season are the worst -- the trails are more ice than snow, and it's so easy for bad things to happen.

(We've had a snowmobile accident here today, as well.)

In this case, I believe the organ-donor tried to power through a patch of dirt on the trail.

Much the same thing with ours, I'm told. She was lucky, though -- she only broke her foot. (But it took a four-wheel-drive ATV to get her down from the trail to where the ambulance was staged.)
