Side effects

Just like with pharmaceuticals, life in The Great North Woods has side effects. One being, at this time of year washing the dishes becomes an attractive way to warm up your hands.

Temperatures supposed to go into the teens tonight, degrees F. Weather forecasters are tiptoeing around that four-letter "S" word. Hey, I _want_ snow. Now that it's too cold for bicycles, I'm waxing up the skis.

I believe our snow is one of our biggest exports to your part of the world. Just doing what we can, after all you probably don't need the maple syrup :-)

When I got The Summer Country I had to go through amazon and it was clear they were really bringing it in from the states. At the moment, of course, I have no cash for things like books (thank heavens for libraries). At some point in the future, hopefully not too distant, that should change, at which time I'll let you know - then we can figure out which method of my obtaining it brings you the most profit. No point in having published authors of good books as friends if you can't help them out a little.

We have bought Canadian maple syrup -- not sure if it was Quebecois or Ontarioan. It costs less than Maine or Vermont product.

When you get feeling bookish, we can discuss things. I have copies here, and if I send you one, I can inscribe it with somthing suitable.

Or something unsuitable, perhaps.
