Tuesday roadkill report

Squashed squirrel, muskrat pancake.  One bit of roadkill I forgot to mention in the plethora of Sunday, an orange-and-white kittycat about half a mile from that injured doe.  Folks, if you live five miles back in the woods, don't let your pet roam.  That animal was a walking twinky for any coyote, fisher, or great horned owl, even if it escaped the 60 mph log trucks...

Rain coming, green globs on the radar map.  I got out a bit earlier than usual for my bike ride.  Warm for the season, about  60 F, but that's about to change.  Lot of leaves down now.  Still a good autumnal vista out over the golf course to the hills where I rode on Sunday.

Don't have a clue why the East Millinocket ambulance was cruising along at polite and legal speed through the bog, a good many miles from their home turf and not en-route to hospitals.

15.30 miles, 1:06:25

If I manage to squeak in another couple of rides, I'll reach 1300 miles for the year.  We'll see.

Although maybe it was someone's semi-feral barn cat?

Possibly, but the remaining evidence said "pet" to me -- plump, good fur. If it was a fully-feral cat, I'd say good riddance, as they are the bane of small wildlife everywhere. No off-switch on the killer instinct.

Also, that particular area isn't farmed. Houses set into the trees here and there along the highway, but the nearest functioning farm is a couple of miles away.

Ah, sounds pet-like given the circumstances. Phooey! :(
