Bogging down

Wife and I went out and ambled around the bog boardwalk this afternoon, saying "Hi!" to the pitcher plants and moss and all.  No sundews spotted this time -- don't know if I just couldn't find them, or they've folded up and vanished for the winter.  Tamaracks turning yellow, bright flaming maples and other such leafy things.  Still a couple of palm warblers sighted, even though I thought all the bug-eaters had decamped.

And a couple of bunchberry flowers, their timing all off.  Of such experiments is evolution made.  Sometimes they don't get frozen...

Not _my_ fault that you live in a swamp rather than a bog...

It's called a floodplain, mister. (Although I have to say that some times make it worthwhile. Yesterday, we had one of the thickest fogs I've ever seen, and it made the bicycle trip to work that much more interesting. If a Brachiosaurus had reared up out of the murk, I probably wouldn't have been overly surprised.)

Okay, "filled swamp."
