Sunday roadkill report

Flat squirrels, raccoon, skunk, weasel.

Not-roadkill: a flock of turkeys grazing the roadside ditch on Clewleyville Road (7-8 birds, all hens), a prime-looking red fox loping across the road near Copeland Hill.

Temperature climbed into the 50s F and the wind stayed gone, so I pulled on my fuzzy jacket over bike gear and headed upriver.  I guess the forecast wind came through last night -- something did, that's for sure.  Anyway, walked the bike across that Bridge of the Damned, biked back downriver, and detoured into the hills with a stop at Wife's nature center to admire monarch butterfly chrysalis (chrysalii?) and industrious red squirrels.  Thence home, to couch-potato a few football games.

40.33 miles, 3:11:45

Three more miles and I reach 1000 for the year.  I was strong -- I didn't circle the neighborhood until the numbers rolled over.   Although "rolled over" doesn't apply to this odometer, totally electronic instead of mechanical...

Enjoy reaching 1000

If you were biking in our neighborhood, you'd probably see many caterpillars, horse lubbers, tarantulas and the occasional millipede sharing the road with you and the rabbit corpses...
