The riot and insurrection continues in Sooper Sekrit SFWA Newsgroups.  With over a hundred fresh posts this morning, I have officially shrugged my shoulders and walked away.  Too voluminous and verminous for my taste.  Besides, I'm too obscure to even merit pirate copies of my books posted to the internet.

Meanwhile, a rookie pitcher for the BoSox threw a no-hitter last night, second game in the major leagues.  That sort of thing could go to your head.

Is that the Lounge you speak of? If so, I've shrugged and walked away several times over the years. When I peek back now and then, the same people seem to be having the same fights.

Actually, most of the flames and venom are in Ask-the-President. The Lounge only caught maybe 25% by volume. (Measurement by vitriol is beyond my capabilities.)

Don't quote me on this, but SFWA as an organization is important and does many good things. But I've found the iinfighting and cliquishness to be really off-putting. I just keep sending the dues money and keep my head down. ;-)

Sounds like a good policy. But just ask Ray Bradbury -- humans like to gather at accident sites and watch train wrecks.

And yes, you could predict the major players without reading any of the posts.
