In the year of the comet?

One side-effect of gray weather -- we haven't been able to see that (supposedly spectacular) comet. Wife has a good long horizon to the west at the nature center, out over a lake, but clouds have blocked any sighting. Spectacular sunsets (if any sun be available) are not compatible with comet-watching.

We have had sprinkles and temperatures above freezing this morning, prospect of some clearing later. We can hope. If that damned cosmic snowball doesn't make an appearance soon, we're going to miss out.

Puttering-around morning. Think I'll make up some cheese-potato soup for lunch. Thus far, it's been a soup kind of day.

I've seen some nice pictures of the comet but I have the dual problems here of cloudy skies and no long horizons. According to Astronomy Picture of the Day, it's quickly heading south.
