Emergency teams fished another snowmobiler out of a lake over the weekend, guy now in the hospital with severe hypothermia. My inner grump* would say to let Darwin have his way, except for the pollution questions involved...
It all counts as income for the rescue crews, and it's a change from little old ladies with difficulty breathing, which appears to be this winter's two-for-one special item. The snowmobilers who go into the lakes at least aren't usually as badly-racked-up as the ones who run head-on into trees. The classic injury from that one is a double femur fracture plus a concussion. (There's a reason the local ambulance squad refers to northbound cars pulling snowmobile trailers as "trauma on the hoof.")
