Printing off another round of photos of the pigeon loft project, stuff that shows up after interior demolition. Cute things like structural window frames and floor joists with about 1/2" bearing on the brick shelf and main carrying beams with scarf joints offset from the columns. And columns supported on structural plank walls on the next floor down.

Contractor and I have decided that the building was constructed from spare parts. That center beam, for example -- it shows axe marks, rough-hewn, rather than saw cuts. That kind of work predates the construction by several decades.

Oh, and they had a fire at some point, and just plastered over the damaged structural members.

I wonder how much "contingency" the owner allowed in his budget...
