Messy business

People are making a lot of noise about unexploded ordinance. War isn't just ugly, it is messy. You may not realize that France is still cleaning up unexploded shells, some of them poison gas, from WWI. And I can recall construction crews encountering unexploded shells from the US Civil War.

We're still finding unexploded bombs here in the UK. I think this is one big difference between the US and the UK, we haven't been invaded and conquered for a very long time, but we have suffered serious damage during a war that is still just about within living memory.

I recall a few months back, a neighborhood in Germany was evacuated while experts disarmed and removed a WWII bomb.
