Survival of the deafest

We have returned from the wedding, bloodied but unbowed. Bride and groom were raised on chairs, horas were danced, industrial quantities of food and drink were consumed. Enough passive voice. We got to sit with the grayhairs and I pled my knee on the various forms of violent martial arts with overamplified music. One of Wife's cousins tried to drag me bodily into a conga line but I remembered enough of my Aikido to escape her Chi Na wristlock.

Tomorrow, the peculiar institution of a morning-after brunch for the happy hungover couple.

Morning after brunch? Yuk. What happened to honeymoon? If I was a new bride I'd skip the brunch and the arched eyebrows and the comments of, "look who just had SEX all night last night." Ick.
Raised on chairs? Hora? Is this a Jewish thing? Or a drunk thing?

Exactly our first response when we heard of it. With the decadance of modern Western Civilization, I just assume they already _had_ their honeymoon...

Yeah, this was a full-blown Jewish extravaganza. Younger Son was taking notes on native customs.

.... So was this some anthropologist's wet dream of a Jewish ho-down?

Actually, I think it may have been Bride's send-up of a classic potlach Jewish wedding. Bride is quite capable of doing that.
